July & August Rides

July 12th Sunday Ride

“Twin Lakes Ride”  The ride will depart at 9:00 AM from the parking lot of Hometown Kitchen, 48 South Rd, Somers, CT. Approximately 27 miles with 1600 ft of climbing and 2 miles of good hard packed dirt road. Beautiful views of both Crystal and Shenipsit Lake. Road bikes are fine. July 15th Wednesday Ride

“Simsbury-Farmington-Collinsville [mostly Rail Trails] Ride” - Depart at 9:00 AM from the Weatogue parking lot at the corner of Hopmeadow St (Rt 10) and Winslow Place in the Weatogue section of Simsbury, CT. Ride 28 miles with 1330 ft of elevation gain. Mostly Rail Trail, with a 1-mile descent to finish. Snack stop in Collinsville. Leader:  Dave Dunn (860) 597-1940 phone/text.

July 18th Saturday Ride

“Foxhill Tower” 25 miles with mostly rolling hills and two climbs to get to the tower. Approx 1,000 ft elevation gain. Bring snacks and drink. Meet at 8:00 AM at Geissler's Supermarket Plaza, 95 S. July 19th Sunday Ride

“Easthampton to Westfield Ramble”  – Ride departs at 9:00 AM from the end of Oliver Street in Easthampton, MA. "Easthampton to Outlook Farm "- Depart at 9:00 AM from the end of Oliver Street in Easthampton, MA. July 26th Sunday Ride

July 29th Wednesday Ride

“LaSalle Market Ride, Collinsville, CT” - Depart at 8:30 AM from the parking lot at the corner of Iron Horse Blvd and Jim Gallagher Way in Simsbury, CT.  Ride 35-40 miles of paved rail trail. August 1st Saturday Ride

August 2nd Sunday Ride

“Bolton - Lebanon”  Ride departs at 9:00 AM from the Bolton Library, 206 Bolton Center Rd, Bolton, CT. Park along Old Bolton Rd. August 5th Wednesday Ride

August 8th Saturday Ride

“Mt Tom / Nonotuck Park”  Meet at Hampton Pond Plaza, 1029 N Rd., Westfield, MA.  The ride will depart at 9:00 AM for 24 miles with 1050 ft of ascent.  A gradual rolling climb to the South Entrance of Mt. August 9th Sunday Ride

“Connecticut River Views” - Ride departs at 9:30 from the Park and Ride, 21 Hoop Pole Hill Rd, Chester, CT for a 43 mile ride with 1900 ft of elevation gain. This is a very scenic mostly flat ride from Chester to Old Saybrook with a side excursion to Fenwick (Katherine Hepburn’s home) for the spectacular ocean view.  Lunch, water and toilets at Saybrook Point (halfway) and a possible bathroom and ice cream stop later in Essex Village. Optional hill climb (Wig Hill) near the end of the ride for those who would enjoy an additional challenge and a nice downhill finish.  Bring snacks and fluids. Points of interest include Otter Cove, CT River Museum, Deep River riverboat launch and train stop and the Saybrook shoreline. August 15th Saturday Ride

“Breakfast/Brunch Then Ride Over Mountain Past Greystone Farm”-  Ride departs at 9:00 AM from Mill Pond Parking Lot, behind 55 School St., Somers, CT (Sani-Can).  Ride 27 miles through Somers, Hampden, Enfield, and East Windsor.  About 1500 feet of total elevation gain.  Breakfast at Hometown Kitchen around mile three.  Leader:  Susan Strange (413) 386-3030 (texts preferred) 

August 16th Sunday Ride

“Tour de Parks” Meet at the Hampden Mini Mart, 3 Allen St. Hampden, MA.  Please park behind Dunkin Donuts. Ride will depart at 8:00 AM for 25 to 30 miles with approximately 1000 feet elevation gain. August 19th Wednesday Ride

“Breakfast/Brunch Ride to Dom's Broad Street Eatery in Windsor, CT”  Depart at 9:00 AM from the Suffield Village parking lot (near Suffield Village Market, 68 Bridge St. Suffield, CT). 25-30 mile ride through Suffield, Windsor Locks, Windsor, and the Windsor historic district.  Breakfast/Brunch at about mile 17.  Some rolling terrain. August 23 Sunday Ride

"Knightville Dam Adventure” -  Ride departs at 10:00 AM from the rest area across from the Irving Gas Station,1400 Russell Rd. (Rt 20) Westfield, MA. Ride to Knightville Dam with optional climb to Knightville Dam Overlook. This is an out and back ride.  24.2 miles round trip.  Add 4 miles for optional 2 mile climb to the overlook plus descent back to the picnic area.  Total of about 1800 feet of elevation gain including the overlook, otherwise about 1600 feet.  Beautiful scenery; some hills.  Bring snacks/lunch for a stop at the picnic area below the dam.  No stores.  Leader:  Susan Strange (413) 386-3030 (texts preferred) 

August 26th Wednesday Ride

“Hadley to Wild Roots” Depart at 9:00 AM from Railroad Ave., Hadley, MA. August 29th Saturday Ride

“Ride for the Rose”  Ride departs at 8:00 AM from Walmart parking lot, 352 Palmer Rd, Ware, MA. Ride 30 hilly miles with breakfast at Rose 22 in Gilbertville at 8 miles. A stop at the Hardwick Winery and a great downhill then flat at the end of the ride.  Leader:  Betty Siwinski (413) 427-6095. 

August 30th Sunday Ride

“Union - Holland - Wales Loop” - Ride departs at 9:00 AM from the parking lot at the corner of Main & Spring Streets, Stafford, CT for 42 miles with 3000 ft of elevation gain with the last 8 miles mostly downhill (minus 580 ft).
