May Rides

May 9th Saturday Ride

“Duncaster #1” Ride departs at 9:00 AM from the park at approximately 135 River St in the Poquonock section of Windsor, CT. Ride 23.8 miles with 1080 ft of elevation gain with lots of surprisingly quiet flat roads across the Windsor industrial area and past Amazon. Weaves its way out to Duncaster Rd in Bloomfield. May 10th Sunday Ride

“Brookfield Orchards” Meet at 250 Main St., Rutland, MA. Park behind the Town Hall. Ride will depart at 10:00 AM for a 33 mile hilly but lovely ride to the apple orchard. Bring drinks/snacks/money.  Leader: Delro (508) 612-2557 text preferred

May 13th Wednesday Ride

“Easthampton to Outlook Farm” - Depart at 10:00 AM from the end of Oliver Street in Easthampton, MA. (West St. to Oliver St. and keep going until Oliver St. dead ends.  Park on the street before the brush dump.  Enter 199 Oliver St into Google Maps.)  25 miles of mostly rolling terrain with one stiff climb.  Food stop at Outlook Farm in Westhampton.  Leader:  Glenn Barnes 201-625-2744 or Glenn1998_11@Yahoo.com .

May 16th Saturday Ride

“Hartford Riverfront - Wickham Park from Chapel 2”

Ride Starts at 9:00 AM at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 297 Chapel Rd, Manchester, CT. Slow-paced ride with lots of river views. From South Windsor to the CT Riverbank, the ride will slip through the highway chaos of East Hartford to explore both sides of the CT River on paved walking trails and return via the Pratt& Whitney Campus and the East Coast Greenway to explore Wickham Park. This ride is not for speed but for the scenery. Due to the complexity of the pathways near the CT River and through Pratt & Whitney this ride is best enjoyed by staying with the leader. Given the possibility that the elevator may not be open, there might be one long stairway with several landings that we have to carry our bikes down. I'm sure some of us will gladly assist anyone who needs help.

May 17th Sunday Ride

“Easthampton to Whately Ramble” – Depart at 10:00 AM from the end of Oliver Street in Easthampton, MA. (West St. to Oliver St. and keep going until Oliver St. dead ends.  Park on the street before the brush dump.  Enter “199 Oliver St” into Google Maps.)  30 miles and 1600 ft. of climbing, less hilly coming back.  2 miles of hardpack which can be ridden on road tires with care.  Bring lunch as our only breaks are roadside and at a convenience store.  Leader:  Glenn Barnes (201) 625-2744  or Glenn1998_11@Yahoo.com . 

May 20th Wednesday Ride

Breakfast at 8:00 AM at Esselon Cafe, 99 Russell St. (Rt 9) Hadley. Ride will depart at 9:00 AM from the Norwottuck Rail Trail parking lot on Railroad St. (off Rt. 47), Hadley, MA. May 23th Saturday Ride

“Tour of Montague Breakfast Ride”  Ride departs at 9:00 AM from Sunderland Elementary School, 1 Swampfield Dr, Sunderland, MA.  25 mile flat to rolling ride through Leverett and Montague with breakfast at Cushman’s at 8 miles (outside seating available) and a stop at the Montague Bookmill.  Leader: Betty Siwinski  bettrad@msn.com or text to (413) 427-6095.

May 24th Sunday Ride

Thirty mile ride from Belchertown thru Hadley and back with a coffee/tea stop at Barstows at mile 12. Start at 9:00 AM from Stop & Shop, 40 George Hannum St., Belchertown, MA.  Leader: Ray Siwinski, (860) 478-8308 or

May 27th Wednesday Ride

"Farmington Rail Trail - South" - Depart at 10:00 AM from where the trail crosses Copper Hill Road in East Granby, CT. Parking is available on both sides of the road. (For reference- approximately 300 yards from Copper Hill Golf Club at 20 Copper Hill Road.)  We will travel south on the flat paved trail to the Bridge of Flowers in Simsbury, CT.  22 miles total.  Bring water/snacks. Sani-cans are available along the trail. Leader: Billthehill (860) 559-2515.

May 30th Saturday Ride

"Brookfield/New Braintree” Park behind the Town Hall at 250 Main St., Rutland, MA. Ride will depart at 9:00 AM for 30 scenic hilly miles. Bring drinks/snacks. Leader: Delro (508) 612-2557 prefer text. 

May 31st Sunday Ride

“Easthampton to Ashfield” – Depart at 10:00 AM from the end of Oliver Street in Easthampton, MA. (West St. to Oliver St. and keep going until Oliver St. dead ends. Park on the street before the brush dump.  Enter “199 Oliver St” into Google Maps.)  45 miles and 2600 ft. of climbing, less hilly coming back. Note the slightly longer route due to the bridge closing detour.
